Who we serve
CCMOW serves anyone in need of a daily, nutritious meal regardless of their age, income level, ability to pay, and documentation status. Whether you're mobility is limited due to
Our healthy, affordable meals support clean and balanced eating, and can help alleviate the stress of where your next meal will come from.
CCMOW’s meals are made from scratch using high-quality and largely locally-sourced ingredients. Menus for our meal delivery and weekday cafe programs are created by trained culinary staff who are knowledgeable about the types of health issues and dietary restrictions that are oftentimes experienced by the vulnerable populations we serve.
Each morning meals are prepared and packaged for delivery in CCMOW’s onsite kitchen. Meals are delivered by our team of caring and trusted volunteers -- all of whom are screened and trained to intervene in the case of a client emergency. We have over 200 active volunteers between the ages of four and eighty-nine, many who have worked with us for years. CCMOW’s meal delivery service creates opportunities for volunteers to conduct client well-checks and help decrease social isolation.
Daily and open communication between clients, their families and our volunteers frequently results in referrals to other necessary resources, including food stamps, health care essentials, housing needs, transportation and county services. Many of our clients and their families believe that the social and emotional support received through our volunteers is invaluable.
Mondays through Fridays, diners are welcome to enjoy lunch at Coal Creek Cafe, CCMOW’s congregate dining program.
Coal Creek Meals on Wheels was established as East Boulder County Meals on Wheels in 1972 by Lafayette resident Sue Marolf, a Board of Directors, and two staff members. The operation began in the kitchen of the First United Methodist Church of Lafayette on a small four-burner stovetop. The organization delivered its first meals on December 4, 1972. In 2012, we rebranded our organization and officially became Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW).
