At the end of August, CCMOW leaders traveled to San Antonio to join more than 700 local leaders, industry experts, and national partners for the Meals on Wheels America Conference. Executive Director Nate Broeckert, Director of Philanthropy Brittany Vital, and Program Director Emma Gaulin represented our organization at this year’s gathering.

The conference theme—building resilience and leveraging influence—was especially meaningful in today’s challenging landscape. With older adults facing increasing needs, this event equipped Meals on Wheels providers nationwide with fresh strategies, innovative tools, and renewed energy to continue our vital mission.
CCMOW Takeaways
For our team, the value went far beyond the sessions. The opportunity to connect with peers, share challenges, and explore innovative solutions was both energizing and affirming.
Nate reflected on the benefit of exchanging ideas with colleagues across the country:
“One highlight was meeting with the Meals on Wheels of New Mexico team and learning how they serve more than 2,000 meals a day. It was incredibly inspiring to see what’s possible at scale.”
Emma emphasized the sense of community and shared mission she felt throughout the week:
“Networking with others who are just as passionate about this work helped me feel even more connected to the larger Meals on Wheels community.”
Brittany appreciated the chance to step back from daily responsibilities and think strategically:
“It’s so valuable to focus on the big picture and build long-term connections with other organizations. We often don’t get this opportunity when our day-to-day keeps us so busy.”
