Our First Prom: A Night to Remember
Updated: Sep 3
For months, our first-ever Prom was something we could only imagine, plans in documents, back-and-forth texts and emails, and a lot of "do you think people will come?" This past Friday, we got to see it come to life.
It started the way the best nights do: community coming together, old friends and new friends, everyone dressed in old prom outfits and looks inspired by their favorite decades. As the evening went on, the energy only grew, excitement around the drawing, speeches that reminded us all why we were there, and then the paddle raise, one of the most powerful moments of the night, with hands going up again and again, each one a reminder of how many people believe in this mission.
And then, the night closed out the only way it could: on the dance floor. The silent disco filled the room with color, headsets glowing as everyone danced to their favorite decade. Then, almost as if the whole room agreed on it at once, every single headset turned green. Every person in that room was dancing to the same song, in the same moment, together.
By the end of the night, our community had raised over $100,000, which means over 20,000 meals delivered to our neighbors across Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, Superior, and the Carbon Valley. That's 20,000 times neighbors won't have to wonder where their next meal is coming from, and 20,000 friendly visits reminding them they haven't been forgotten, that someone cares, and that they're not alone.
If you were there, we hope this brings you right back to that night. That wasn't just a party. It was a room full of neighbors who came together because they believe in this mission. You were part of building something that will ripple out into our community for a long time to come. We are so grateful you chose to spend that night with us.
Thank you to everyone who raised a paddle, placed a bid, dropped in a drawing ticket, gave a gift, or simply came and celebrated with us. Thank you to everyone who couldn't be there in person but continues to support this mission in every way, we felt that support too, even from afar. And thank you, truly, for believing that our neighbors deserve to be nourished, celebrated, and remembered.
See the difference your support makes: This Is Why We Deliver: Cydnee, Irby, & Lenore's Story
We can't wait to see you at the next one.
