The V.I.V. (Very Important Volunteer) of the Month

Each month we highlight Very Important Volunteers (V.I.V) who are making a difference in our community! This month CCMOW's Volunteer Manager interviewed Judy and Gary.

Tell us how you first got involved.

"Meals on Wheels assisted me so many times in getting patients safely discharged from the hospital. My promise was to volunteer when I retired, so I did and Gary joined me."

What's a memory you have of CCMOW?

"We both have had so many memories meeting so many nice clients and working with so many kind volunteers, that it is difficult to narrow it down to just one. Arbordale Acres has become a true neighborhood to us."

Why do you keep volunteering with CCMOW?

"CCMOW provides such an essential service for the community and we are proud to be a part of this truly wonderful program. We feel so close to our clients, they are our Friday families, they give us as much as we give to them."

What do/did you do for a living?

"Gary was an attorney and I wore many caps as an RN from bedside care to administrative duties. My favorite was Patient Teaching."

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering for CCMOW?

"We love to walk, to golf, to swim during the summer months, to visit with the family, to volunteer for other organizations. Judy plays Mah Jongg once a week and Gary plays poker. We love classical concerts especially at the Aspen Music Festivals and at Bravo Vail. Judy makes homemade greeting cards as do Bonnie Dahke and Mary Lou."

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

"Judy loves to walk and get lost on new trails; Gary gets nervous if not attached to GPS. Gary loves listening to classical music, Judy loves all music and will dance to anything."

What is one thing you know for sure?

"That there is no certainty in this life, expect the unexpected and hope for the best, or if uncertain just dance!"

Other comments?

"Thank you CCMOW for all your hard work and your welcoming smiles."
